A remarkably composed send-off in Ardee, marked by a strong attendance, a confident sandwich table and a difficult parking situation.
Overall send-off4.6/ 5
The assessment
The tea arrived early, strong and without ceremony. The queue formed, dissolved, and briefly re-formed around a man who had mistaken the cloakroom for the kitchen. The sandwiches were triangular, plentiful and emotionally appropriate.
There was one overlong reading from a cousin, but it contained a useful family anecdote and therefore passed inspection.
Independent notices
★★★★★
“Would attend again.”Great spread, generous measures and the widow remembered everybody’s name. Lost half a star because there were no cocktail sausages.
★★☆☆☆
“Disappointing for a man of his standing.”One plate of Kimberleys for nearly seventy people. Questions need to be asked.
★★★★☆
“Excellent corpse, terrible parking.”He looked peaceful. A Toyota Corolla blocking the gate ruined the experience.
